QAPCO has built a new state-of-the-art LDPE plant (LDPE3), which is located within the existing facilities at the Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC), Qatar. The plant with an annual capacity of 3300 kMTPA commenced production in 2012. With this addition QAPCO’s overall LDPE capacity will become 7000 kMPTA, which will be the largest LDPE capacity at a single site.

More Information

Our new low density polyethylene (LDPE) is produced by Tubular process polymerization technology, and licensed by Lyondell Basell (Lupotach P Process Technology)

Characteristics

Qapco’s low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin is a thermoplastic made from tubular process polymerization, and takes place in a long tube (>2000 m) at high pressure. The ethylene gas reacts with the free radical initiator introduced at different zones, yielding LDPE. This polymer is characterized by highly-branched polymer structure.
